A pregnant physician's assistant, a train conductor and a retired investment banker are said to be among 12 individuals who will decide the fate of former FTX CEO Sam Bankman Freed.
As Cointelegraph's on-the-ground reporter Anna Paula Pereira reports, 12 jurors were removed from the list of 45 on October 4, the second day of the trial in Manhattan.
Potential jurors are each given one minute to introduce themselves by sharing their background, age, career, education, relationship history and children.
Pereira said a prospective judge said his wife had previously worked at a law firm that provided services to FTX – although it was unclear whether he had been selected.
According to Matthew Russell Lee of Inner City Press, a judge was excused after revealing that she worked for a firm that invested in FTX and Alameda's research.
District Court Judge Lewis A. Kaplan discussed jury selection with prosecutors and Bankman-Fried's defense attorneys before announcing the final 12 jury members 15 minutes later.
According to reports from Bloomberg and TechCrunch on Oct. 4, the final list of judges shows that the panel is chaired by women and includes nine women and three men.
They range in age from early 30s to late 60s and their careers span a variety of industries including health, finance, legal, IT and education. Five are university educated. The full list of judges is below.

It is understood that the man previously served as a member of the judiciary. The 61-year-old man works for the United States Postal Service. He has no wife or children and has served as a member of the judiciary in the past. The 39-year-old woman currently works as a physician's assistant and was once a medical missionary in the Dominican Republic. She is 10 weeks pregnant and married to a web developer, a middle-aged woman who once attended Duke University and has experience managing nonprofits and fundraisers. A 50-year-old woman works as a train conductor. She is a mother of five children. Two of the five children have been convicted of a crime. The 65-year-old woman is a retired corrections officer. The 33-year-old woman worked as a nurse in Westchester, New York and is said to have studied at the State University of New York. Binghamton. The 40-year-old woman is currently unemployed as a social worker and previously attended Princeton University and Columbia University. A woman who works at a school in the Bronx, New York. She previously studied at the University of Buffalo and Syracuse University.A woman who works in advertising. She has an 18-year-old daughter and a 12-year-old son. A 55-year-old woman who works as a special education teacher in Rockland, New York.

After the jury members were selected, 15 minutes of opening statements were given by the prosecution and defense. Testimony from coca broker Mark Juilliard, who lost nearly $80,000 in FTX, and Adam Yedidia, Bankuman-Fried's former best friend, came before Judge Kaplan called it a day.
Bankuman-Fried's criminal trial is expected to last more than six weeks. He faces seven fraud-related charges for his role as chief executive in the shocking collapse of FTX in November.
