2025 was a bear market for Bitcoin: Samson Mow
According to Jan3 founder Samson Mou, Bitcoin could enter a bull run that will last 2035 following what could have been a bear market over the past 12 months.
However, other analysts argue that Bitcoin's (BTC) high of $125,100 in October is a cycle high and that 2026 could be the start of a new bear market.
“2025 was a bear market,” Mou said on XPost on Friday, adding that bitcoin is likely to record a “ten-year long bull run.” Mow isn't alone this year, with Bitcoin analyst Plancy echoing similar sentiments. “If you're in 2025, you're in a bear market,” Plancy said on the X-Post the same day.
Bitcoin may end the year in the red.
“Bitcoin has never had two red annual candles in a row,” Plancy said.
Bitcoin is down 8.98% since January 1, trading at $87,210 at press time, according to CoinMarketCap. Bitcoin's price has fallen short of forecasts by BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes and BitMine chairman Tom Lee, who suggested in October that bitcoin could still reach $250,000 by the end of the year.
Market sentiment hovered at lows for much of December.
On Thursday, the sentiment-tracking Crypto Fear & Gray Index fell three points to 20 points from 100 on December 26, snapping a two-week period of “extreme fear” that began on December 13.
The industry is divided on how 2026 will play out for Bitcoin.
Industry executives and analysts are divided on how Bitcoin will perform in 2026.
Veteran trader Peter Brandt recently predicted that Bitcoin could fall to $60,000 in the third quarter of 2026. Meanwhile, Jurien Timmer, Fidelity's director of global macroeconomic research, 2026 could be a “year off” for Bitcoin, prices could drop to $65,000.
However, not all attitudes are like sleepiness. Strategy CEO Phong Le recently said that even though the asset's price and sentiment may have weakened towards the end of the year, Bitcoin's market fundamentals remain strong in 2025.
Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hogan said in July that 2026 would be a “dominator year” for Bitcoin.
