37 million dollars was spent to save Assange, says Assangedao member Silke Noa.

AssangeDAO member Silke Noa said on XPost that 11,000 ETH worth $37 million out of 16,593 ETH was spent on AssangeDAO's The Hour legal defense and campaign.

Noah revealed that the 16,593 Ether (ETH) allocation to free Assange was managed by the Wow Holland Foundation “from their safe.global multisig wallet address.”

“Previously, to avoid prejudice to Julian's case, there were security reasons that prevented full transparency in the allocation of the funds. But now it's time for the Wow Holland Foundation to provide a detailed account of how the money was allocated. As I have repeatedly reminded you before.

Assange, an Australian journalist and activist, founded WikiLeaks, which publishes classified and classified documents. He has been incarcerated since April 2019.

AssangeDAO's efforts over the years

Speaking to Cointelegraph, NIM CEO Harry Halpin said:

“AsanjDAO was started by Julian's friends like me and Amir Taki after we saw the amount of money being made for tokenized NFTs like ConstitutionDAO.”

“Julian's legal team knew they were running out of money,” Halpin explained, adding that because of Assange's dire situation, “they decided that some form of fundraising could be used for his legal defense.”

AssangeDAO core team member Joshua Bate told Cointelegraph:

“The DAO was formed by Assange's friends and family, along with other participants recruited from the Web3 space, to raise money for Julian's defense using popular new fundraising methods at the time.”

According to Bate, the funds raised came from “the onchain and cypherpunk communities.” He said that this created awareness about the situation and moved the decentralized society into action.

Pak NFT

Batty informed Cointelegraph that the funds raised by OnChain will be used to purchase a unique one-to-one irrevocable token (NFT) created in collaboration with Assange himself.

“All proceeds from the NFT sale were sent to the Wow Holland Foundation's on-chain address and periodically diverted to pay for legal fees. The foundation's innovative spirit has enabled this kind of onchain activity to have real-world impact.

AssangeDAO, another core team responsible for the initial design of AssangeDAO's governance structure and operations, spoke to Cointelegraph about the Pak NFT:

“In a way, maybe this event will bring the community back together. Pak NFT will go to “0” when Assange is freed, I believe. This DAO owns the NFT.

A member of the AssangeDAO core team stated that this could be considered the first historical event in which the NFT community contributed to the release of someone from prison.

However, they state that there can be no celebration until “everything is confirmed.”
