Even the mention of Bitcoin or Ethereum on a streaming series makes the news, and the community passes out. Still, it's good to look back at all the times crypto has come out of the ecosystem and appeared in mainstream media — be it on Netflix, a comedy show, or any viral sensation.
NFT Balloon at Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
In the year 2023 marks one of the first times in the 99-year history of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade that a design from the crypto and blockchain space has been featured as a balloon or float. In November, viewers from across the country will be able to see the blue cat and milk carton characters from Web3 firm Cool Cats Group's nonfungible token (NFT) collection.

Covering the Sam Bankman-Fried trial
Crypto ‘golden boy' Sam “SBF” Bankman-Fried was arrested and charged as 2023 began, but the former FTX CEO's luck took a turn for the worse as the year progressed. He was indicted in November on seven felony counts of threatening his ex-girlfriend, Caroline Ellison, who one of his defense attorneys described as “the most cross-examining person I've ever seen.”
SBF was the main subject of Michael Lewis's book Going Infinite, the same week the trial began. Compared to other enforcement cases in the crypto space, Banman-Fried appears to have been very high-profile, making it the target of mainstream media reports and late-night comedians.
‘The most interesting man in the world' supports Bitcoin
Actor Jonathan Goldsmith, who has been featured as the “most interesting man in the world” in an ad campaign for Dos Equis beer since 2006, has revived his character to promote Bitcoin (BTC) for Bitwise Asset Management before the exchange approved an exchange-traded fund. . Goldsmith drew a large audience from his commercials, which included humorous “facts” about his character.
