IG Europe partners with Bitpanda to bring crypto trading to European investors

IG Europe has partnered with Bitpanda to offer crypto to European investors using the Austrian exchange's infrastructure for liquidity, trade communications and market data.

IG's push to bring space crypto trading to its European customers comes after it launched its service in the UK in 2025. The new expansion has no confirmed timeline.

“This partnership expands our product offering across Europe, giving experienced investors access to a wider range of asset classes with the quality and security they require,” said Esteve Jean, managing director of IG Europe at Baffin in Germany.

IG Group is a London-listed FTSE 100 trading platform with 1.3 million customers worldwide.

The Bitpanda deal allows IG to offer crypto services to customers on the blockchain without building its own infrastructure. It also comes with MCA making such partnerships a faster route to market while meeting stricter requirements around capital, governance, risk management and regulation while increasing compliance to offer crypto services.

The IG team sees a small amount of crypto income

While IG Group earned 331.2 million British pounds ($444.5 million) in revenue in the first quarter of the year, the crypto space only contributed $3.2 million, which is less than 1 percent of the figure.

Despite its low revenue, IG Group has been expanding its crypto push. In March, the company acquired Australian crypto exchange Independent Reserve, allowing it to launch spot crypto for IG customers in Australia. In the year In 2025, it found markets in the Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) in Germany.

Meanwhile, in October, IG sold its futures exchange to Kraken as part of a separate partnership with a global crypto exchange.

Bitpanda expands offerings

Cointelegraph reports that Bitpanda is building VisionChain, an Ethereum Layer-2 designed to enable European banks and fintechs to issue and trade tokenized stocks, bonds and funds in compliance with MiCA and MiFID II.

The company is expanding beyond crypto. In a move to become a fully-stacked financial platform, it has added support for thousands of stocks and exchanges and launched in the UK earlier this year. The Vienna-based exchange is looking at a possible public listing this year.
