A mysterious aerial phenomenon captured on video over Curitiba, Brazil is the latest to attract the attention of “ufologists,” who track unidentified flying objects as evidence of extraterrestrial visitors. A pair of videos posted on YouTube show a triangular object hovering in the sky above a southern Brazilian city from different angles.
The first, shot Zona Desconhecida has garnered more than 31,000 views since it was uploaded on July 21. As the camera zooms in, the object is seen sporting a chassis-like landing gear that disappears in the clip. The videographer initially dismissed it as a drone, but the lack of visible propellers and unique features quickly dispelled that idea.
The second video provides a clearer view of the enigmatic craft, showing transparent or shiny sides and a subtly changing shape mid-flight. The footage has garnered more than 25,000 views on YouTube and has spread like wildfire across other social media platforms, with some breathlessly proclaiming it “the clearest UFO video in history.”
Armchair analysts have gone into each frame, noting that the object seems to inflate and deflate as it moves. The sighting has sparked wild speculation, with some suggesting it could be a biological vessel, alien lifeforms or—of course—an alien spacecraft.
But some Internet skeptics claim the object is simply a giant star-shaped balloon, a distortion of the image caused by the “landing gear” camera angle. Skeptics argue that the quality of the video – although appreciated by some – is not enough to draw a valid conclusion.

Local media reported that the Brazilian Air Force was unable to confirm the images. The agency did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Decrypt.
This latest incident adds another chapter to Curitiba's history of unknown aerial phenomena. The city of 1.7 million people has the distinction of having the highest number of UFO sightings in Brazil. Between 1952 and 2022, at least 861 UFO sightings were reported across Brazil, with Curitiba accounting for 80 of these reports.
On May 19, 1986, the most infamous UFO sighting occurred in Brazil, where several sightings were reported in different locations overnight.
