Aether collaborates with Filecoin to solve GPU shortage, boost AI.
Aethir has partnered with the Philecoin Foundation to address the GPU shortage of its decentralized graphics processing unit (GPU) cloud computing network.
The collaboration aims to address a growing challenge in the fields of artificial intelligence and Web3 by providing integrated GPU rental services through FileCoin's decentralized storage network.
In a Q&A, Mark Ryden, chief strategy officer and co-founder at Aether, explained that traditional systems “can no longer meet the needs of compute and storage.”
“FileCoin's decentralized storage backbone complements ATR's decentralized GPU cloud infrastructure by providing a secure and scalable way to manage massive amounts of data, making it an ideal time to collaborate and meet the industry's evolving requirements.”

Lack of GPU
The partnership between Ether and FileCoin was demonstrated at the FIL Singapore event, where Rydon discussed the importance of accounting support for computing decentralized infrastructure.
He explained that ATR's network of over 43,000 GPUs, including the NVIDIA H100, will help meet the growing demand for computing power.
Rydon told Cointelegraph that Ether chose to merge with Filecoin because of “the need for a decentralized infrastructure. […]Especially in AI and Web3.

Decentralized GPU cloud computing challenges
Decentralized GPU cloud computing faces a number of significant challenges, particularly the “global shortage and inefficient use of GPUs,” Rydon said.
“Another key issue is making sure the power and data storage is balanced and decentralized, which is critical to avoiding central points of failure.”
To address these challenges, the partnership focuses on AI and node-based AI-based data security, such as TensorOpera Fox-1, which uses data stored using the FileCoin network.
Ryden explained that the partnership with FileCoin will combine “scalable GPU computing capabilities” with FileCoin's storage services to accommodate “intensive compute and storage needs.”

Aethir is a decentralized cloud startup
In June, Ater launched a decentralized cloud computing network on the Ethereum mainnet to enable idle GPU resources to contribute to a network of GPU-as-a-service solutions.
Rydon notes that establishing itself on the mainnet has enabled “high-end enterprises” to contribute their resources to “increase the reach of current GPU offerings.”
Developers and enterprises can rent compute resources from Aether's network of providers to support the training of AI models or deliver digital content at scale.
