Air drop season? Protocols will offer $700M token airdrops in one week

Ethereum scaling solution AltLayer has become the first of at least three protocols to go live with more than $100 million worth of token airdrops in the coming week.

The ALT token and claim process went live on January 25th at 9 am UTC. With 300 million tokens allocated for the first airdrop and an average daily price of $0.32, the total airdrop will reach $96 million at current prices.

Celestia stakeholders who want to get their hands on the ALT airdrop will have to wait longer, but AltLayer says “technical differences in the request method” have delayed the airdrop for Celestia.

AltLayer's airdrop comes amid several projects expected to drop their respective tokens to eligible claimants next week.

Crypto users saving airdrops on X should be extremely careful, as the platform is currently inundated with scam accounts impersonating the official social media pages of crypto companies that have announced airdrops. These sites upload similar posts impersonating “air claims” sites, especially wallet drains.
