Ethereum Layer-2 Network Scroll has just started. SCR token in the much-anticipated airdrop—but some obvious users are lamenting the incident.

Of this figure, 40 million SCR is awarded to chain participants who earn 200 or more scroll marks or points using the Layer-2 scaling network. Some users aren't happy, though, and CryptoTwitter (pronounced X) has been flooded with memes and complaints about the supposed pittance they received.
Anonymous Twitter and Ethereum user DYOR.eth said they dropped tokens and dropped the scroll altogether, calling it “one of the worst airdrops ever.” Twitter user Joshi, who has gained a large following of posts about upcoming airdrops, called it “the worst airdrop ever.” Other tweets mocked the expected price and claims of the Scroll Airdrop.

The SCR token has since fallen in value following the airdrop: CoinGecko data shows that SCR has fallen by 16% since the airdrop, dropping its price to $1.17. This is common for newly launched tokens, which can be very volatile—especially weather receivers can cash out and traders can buy in the middle of the frenzy.

Scroll is one of many Ethereum layer-2 networks. Such networks are used to improve the functionality of the chain by providing benefits such as cheaper and faster transactions while supporting the security of the core network.
Ethereum is the blockchain behind the second largest cryptocurrency. ETHBut the network can sometimes be difficult to use due to slow and expensive transactions. Layer-2 networks have exploded in popularity of late—so much so that some industry observers believe they are drawing value from ETH itself, despite other benefits.
