Algorand’s CEO’s hacked account danced to pole position

Algorand'S Ceo'S Hacked Account Danced To Pole Position

The Algorand Foundation said that X (formerly Twitter) CEO Stacy Warden's X account was compromised and asked the community to refrain from clicking links or responding to direct messages.

On January 26, Warden X's account shared a post calling out the poor of Algorand society using a well-known racial slur, indicating that someone else is controlling the account. Following this, the hacker urged the community to sell Algorand (ALGO) and buy Ether (ETH) instead.

After the post, the hacker shared a funny story about how Tron founder Justin San Algorand is pushing it to “new heights.” According to the hacker, all they had to do was give Sun “total control” over Algorand and allow them to convert any token to True USD (TUSD). The hacker wrote:

“Of course, I immediately accepted this offer. Soon, Algorand will reach a very real dollar and a new era of digital business will begin.

The hacker mocked the site's projects as being responsible for the next “big financial crash in crypto.”

Apart from these, the hacker posted music on the account and changed the Warden's profile bio, and the CEO was able to extract six pieces of information from the community and gaslight them as a hack. The hacker changed the Warden's biography to make it appear that the Warden had already left the Algorand Foundation and was now a “semi-professional pole dancer”.

Some members of the community responded to Sun's post, seemingly amused by the hacker's criticism. One X user replied to the post saying Algorand should hire the exploiter, while another said they should let Algorand “keep the account”.

Meanwhile, other community members took this opportunity to lob criticism at Warden. Crypto researcher ZachXBT posted that the hacker would make a “better CEO” for the Algorand Foundation. Another X user, Warden, said he was eligible for an internship at the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, where his X account was hacked on January 9.
