Blockchain-powered role-playing game (RPG) Chain of Alliance has launched its beta version, making “huge changes” to its gameplay systems and revamping its visuals and UI.
“Overall, we've improved the game for the better,” Alliance Marketing Lead Jorn Wiseman told Decrypt. “We've made big changes to the beta build and the alpha build.”
Those changes include “reworked” gameplay, combat and crafting systems, a “redesigned” UI and an updated mission system, as well as “all new” animations, VFX and audio.
Alliance's combat mechanics were “built from the ground up,” Wiseman said, with the goal of creating a flexible system that allows for easy addition of new skills and upgrades. In addition to ensuring that the game stays “fresh and exciting” as new episodes are added, the remake will give players more options for specialization as they begin the character creation process.
A new aspect mechanic, on the other hand, adds random properties to equipment, allowing for more fine-grained customization by refining player stats and carving Runes onto equipment.
Skill mechanics have been tweaked to be more “objective,” Wiseman said, adding that players now have the option of using new Taunt, Shield, and Block skills that increase gameplay and replayability.
For example, the Taunt move forces the opposing team to attack the taunted hero, allowing one of the player's other characters to heal or stack effects for a more devastating attack.
New art, animations and VFX have been added to give the game more visual polish. “The first version was heavily influenced by the limitations of web game technology, but we're constantly trying to push it to the edge of what's possible,” Wiseman told Decrypt, adding improvements to the game's designs and a complete overhaul. In-game combat animations help give it a look that's “unique in the crypto gaming space.”
The team is especially proud of the visual improvements they made to the platform, all of which are vibrant and unique, making every battle more exciting.
As well as revamping the game's graphics, the Chain of Alliance beta will also redo the UI, optimizing the interface for computer browsers rather than mobile devices. “We've put a lot of focus on the user experience in the game and have a consistent style,” Wiseman said, adding that the combat is “very interactive” to help players make better informed decisions during gameplay.
That's especially important given the complex systems like crafting and crafting that were added to the game during the beta launch. “Overall, the UI is very intuitive and easy to understand for our new players,” Wiseman said.
Launched in February 2022, Alliance Chain is an immersive turn-based, party-building RPG, with the game world driven by the choices and actions of the community.
Heroes are the main resource of Chain of Alliance, created by players like Head, Body and Arms. Each body is packed with unique features, and further customized through the hero's breed, class assignments, player choice, and new skins and sculpts introduced at the launch of the beta.
Heroes can be made as NFT, their progress is recorded directly on the NFT. “We want to give traditional players who love RPG games an option to own their digital assets and not be chained to the developer like they are now,” Alliance co-founder Simon Sorgenfre told Decrypt.
