Amazon-backed Anthroponic Cloud brings AI chatbot to European users

Artificial intelligence (AI) developer Anthropix has announced that its AI chatbot Claude is now available for use by individuals and businesses in Europe, according to a blog post.

On May 14, the company said its AI assistant is now accessible via the web app and iOS app in several European languages with “stronger understanding and fluency,” including French, German, Spanish and Italian.

The development will be launched in the United States in March 2024, the most powerful Cloud 3 that can analyze images. Previously, Europeans could only access a chatbot using a virtual private network (VPN).

The announcement comes shortly after the launch of Cloud API in Europe earlier this year – a feature that allows developers to integrate Anthropic AI models into apps, websites or services.

Cointelegraph reached out to Anthropic for more information on the European release.

Users on X have been commenting on Cloud's arrival in Europe, noting that while ChatGPT is still reasonably superior, Cloud is showing superior text eloquence.

While typing quality can be somewhat subjective, our European reporter Savannah Fortis tested the Cloud 3 with ChatGPT a bit more head-on. In both cases, the free version of chatbots was used.

Both chatbots, when asked to “write a short poem about Europe,” included key elements of several European countries as part of the poem's content.

However, the quality of Cloud's writing stood out, and the “short poem” was more precise in presenting only a handful of stanzas.

Cloud's poem was more coherent as a complete story, while Chatgpiti had some good poems on the theme, although they sounded like phrases strung together rather than telling a story.

Anthroponic was founded in 2021 by members of former rival AI developer OpenAI. Last year, it received investments from some of the biggest names in tech, including Amazon, which invested up to $4 billion in September 2023, and a $2 billion commitment from Google next month.

On April 5, Anthropic launched a beta of the feature “Tool Usage” for all Anthropic Messaging API users for generative artificial intelligence (AI) models in the cloud.

This enables real-time data discovery, access and integration of third-party features into cloud workflows. Allowing users to submit code snippets for Cloud to bring external information into conversations.
