Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed that the company is working on generative artificial intelligence (AI) features that will be available to consumers by 2024.

During the company's quarterly earnings call on Feb. 1, Cook said he believes there is a “tremendous opportunity” for the company's AI and generative AI.

“Looking forward, we'll continue to invest in these and other transformative technologies, including artificial intelligence, where we're spending a lot of time and effort, and we're excited to share details of our ongoing work in that space later this year.”

When analysts tried to press the CEO for more details about Apple's AI plans, he said there were some things he was “incredibly excited about” but would talk about them “later this year.”

However, alongside Apple's curtain call for its AI and Generative AI products, it also hints at some major developments for 2024.

This includes the new additions to the smartphone family, the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro, and the iOS 18 update, which some have called the biggest update in the history of the operating system.

The company is also releasing its long-awaited and first augmented reality headset, the Vision Pro, on February 2.
