Aptos Labs co-founder and outgoing CEO Mo Sheck has announced his decision to step down, ushering in a new chapter for the blockchain company.

Deeply involved in the blockchain space since 2016, Sheikh co-founded Aptos Labs with Avery Ching three years ago. Together, they envision creating a scalable, resilient blockchain foundation to support fair and efficient products in the future.

When Sheikh stepped down, he highlighted Aptos' success.

In a heartfelt post on X, Sheikh expressed his pride in the company's success.

Aptos has grown to become one of the strongest ecosystems in the blockchain space, trusted by over a thousand builders and innovators worldwide. A platform using the Move programming language originally developed for the Facebook DEM project has successfully raised $400 million in venture capital funding from top investors such as BlackRock, Franklin Templeton, MasterCard, Google and PayPal.

Sheikh also acknowledged the contributions of previous builders and partners who helped shape the ecosystem, including Merkle Trade, Tala Labs, Ked Labs, Iconia, Myco and Awe, among others. Aptos, who is at the forefront of driving, emphasized the importance of cooperation between Web3 and Web2.

Reflecting on his resignation, Sheikh spoke of his true passion for building companies from the ground up and his pride in the world-class team at Aptos Labs. When he returns from his daily duties, he will continue to be the company's strategic advisor and continue to support Aptos' mission as the most established layer-1 blockchain.

In the coming months, Sheikh plans to take time to reflect on the future of blockchain technology and explore financial systems to continue Aptos' leadership in the space.

Avery Ching will be appointed CEO of Aptos

Ching will step down as CEO as Aptos enters its next phase of growth, a decision Sheikh says he is confident will lead the company to greater success.

In his own post, Ching expressed his excitement and determination to lead Aptos Labs into its next phase of growth. “Supporting and growing the ambitious Aptos developers and community, pushing the boundaries of innovation in Web3 technology, and supporting high-speed pioneering products are our immediate priorities,” Ching wrote.

The start of Ching's leadership marks a new era for Aptos, as the company aims to continue to innovate and expand opportunities across its ecosystem.

Notably, Sheikh's departure and Ching's appointment come at a critical time for Aptos, as it remains on the cutting edge of blockchain technology, poised to shape the future of decentralized finance.
