Avail integrates leading layer-2 networks to create more cost-effective networks

Avail, a blockchain solution focused on Web3 integration, announced new strategic partnerships with five leading Layer-2 networks.

On April 25, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, StarkWare and zkSync were announced as new partners leveraging Avail's data availability layer and integration architecture. According to Avail, the collaboration aims to create more scalable, cost-effective chains capable of loading millions of users.

This is made possible by Avail's Data Availability (DA) layer, which provides computational data availability guarantees for the integration architecture, along with its built-in authentication ecosystem.

Mark Boyron, CEO of Polygon Labs, said a strong DA layer is essential for an improved developer experience:

“The ultimate goal of giving developers this option is to enable rich and robust connected blockchains through AggLayer.”

Limited data availability is one of the blockchain industry's biggest roadblocks to mainstream adoption and optimization of networks for mass use. Without the appropriate amount of DA, the measurement will be a bottleneck.

According to the announcement, Avail is working on an “opinionless base layer” that can support any blockchain.

Starkware CEO Eli Ben-Sasson said solutions that improve data and unify Web3 are key to building a “seamless user experience for everyone.”

The idea of reducing friction for developers to mass-adopt blockchain applications has been widely discussed over the past year. It's a big hurdle for networks looking to expand.

Speaking to Cointelegraph at the ETHGlobal conference in London in March, Avail founder Anurag Arjun pointed out that the ecosystem needs more infrastructure to unify more infrastructure.

In March, it said it aims to be a package-agnostic platform that supports major package protocols such as StarkWare, zkSync, Arbitrum, and Optimism. This latest announcement marks a step in that direction.

It comes shortly after Avail announced an airdrop of 600 million of its native AVAIL tokens to users on April 18.
