Nine Chronicles is the OG of fully decentralized online RPGs. It launched on PC in October 2020, and released a mobile version late last year.

Nine Chronicles is a bit of a slow burn. Being an idle RPG, the game moves forward with little input from you, the player.

It is basically a game that tests your strategy and management skills.

The first half hour of playing this game is a bit much, to be honest. You start off in campaign mode, working your way up to level 15, which is when you finally jump into the Arena – where you battle other players online.

The problem wasn't a problem, it was getting through 15 stages of the campaign before finally being able to see some action.

Throughout the first 15 levels of the campaign, I didn't need to adjust my weapon or armor. I just hit “Next Step” and let it do the rest of my behavior.

Once you finally unlock the arena and start battling other players, you choose your weapons and armor… and the rest is still out of your hands.

You're watching the computer do all the heavy lifting. It's a bit like watching a boxer enter the ring as a manager. I had to resist the urge to tap the screen.

It's the kind of game you can sneak in during office hours, day in and day out. At the end of the year, you'll have some impressive stats to brag about to your gaming colleagues at the Christmas party.

However, if you're playing the PC version and thinking you can transfer your assets to master the mobile game, sorry for just giving you a four-year head start, but that's not the case.

The mobile game runs on its own mainnet libplanet, and its own chain called Heimdall runs parallel to the Odin chain on the PC version.
