Binance Exec Tigran Gambaryan 'Was Denied Bail Despite Meeting All Requirements, Family

A spokesperson for the family told Decrypt that Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan was denied bail despite “meeting all bail requirements for medical reasons.”

“He has had numerous health scares and is now at the point where he is in so much physical pain due to a ruptured disc in his back that he cannot walk unaided,” the spokesman said.

Reports of the executive's ill health have been public for months. He said in July, just weeks before Nigerian officials responded to a report from his wife saying he was “fine” and saying he was in “shocking” condition and would need a special, high-risk operation.

Gambaryan's arrest began in February after he and another executive entered into negotiations with the country's authorities regarding the ban on several crypto trading websites, including Binance, Coinbase and Kraken.

Gambarian, who oversees the company's financial crime compliance, was initially arrested along with executive director Nadeem Anjarwala. Empowering unemployed youths and the Niger Delta Youth Council have been asked to meet with the country's Congress over allegations of terrorism financing, money laundering and tax evasion.

Gambarian and Anjarwala were charged with tax evasion and money laundering, but the tax evasion charges were later dropped.

In late March, Anjarwala managed to escape from custody after requesting permission to visit a local mosque for prayers under guard. According to local media, he is believed to have used a hidden passport to flee the country.

“It is completely unfair to deny someone in Tigray the opportunity to seek proper medical care,” said Yuki Gambarian, the owner of Tigray.

Meanwhile, Rich McCormick (R-GA) has been pushing for the United States to intervene on Gambia's behalf.

“some [politicians] There is so much going on in this election cycle that they are not paying attention. People are distracted. It's easy to ignore a person or a family,” McCormick told Decrypt last week.

“But also crypto is something that is still not understood very much,” he added. There was some laziness in actually looking at the details of the case.
