Bitcoin misses the mark in Trump-Harris debate; Among the missed agendas, the price increased by more than $57k.
Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris square off in their first presidential debate tonight. Both candidates came with well-crafted agendas, but Bitcoin fans were disappointed that they didn't address the cryptocurrency's reforms. The debate focused on issues such as climate change, abortion rights, international conflicts and economic reforms.
Presenting herself as a champion of the middle class, Harris has repeatedly touted her plan to address the nation's challenges. Meanwhile, Trump has dismissed her claims, prompting protests that have had little impact. Cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin were not in the discussion.
This comes in the wake of Trump's recent appearance at the Bitcoin Nashville conference, where he made several bold promises, including the removal of SEC Chairman Gary Gensler. Once seen as a passing trend or currency of choice for dubious figures, cryptocurrency is now entrenched in the mainstream.
Trump has announced his desire to make America the “crypto capital of the planet” and Bitcoin the “world superpower.” His campaign has embraced cryptocurrency, now accepting Bitcoin donations and recently launched digital NFT trading cards.
Bitcoin price has yet to react to this heated debate and its price is currently trading above the crucial $57k mark.
Here's what Trump said at the Bitcoin conference:
“We will have rules, but from now on the rules will be written by people who love your industry, not by people who hate your industry. I will appoint an SEC chairman who builds the future, not the future,” Trump promised.
Taking a dig at Harris and Joe Biden, he said: “If you win this election, every one of you will be gone.” They will be cruel. They will be cruel. They do things and you don't believe it.
