After thanking her for the “incredible honor” of representing her home country in the US Senate, she admitted she didn't have six more years to operate at such a high level. She says she feels “like a runner in a marathon” and says “the energy required is unmatched.”
Loomis was one of the first and most vocal politicians to openly support bitcoin at a time when much of the US administration was opposed to the asset class. Some earlier reports indicated that she bought Bitcoin in 2013.
She bought an estimated $50,000 to $100,000 worth of cryptocurrency in 2021, according to filings from 2021. The senator made several comments about BTC, including predicting that it will be an important player for many years to come.
Recently, she championed the idea of a US strategic bitcoin reserve. She has introduced several pro-crypto bills in the US, but her systematic push for Bitcoin reserves is perhaps the most widely praised and discussed.
