Can'T Ai Take A Joke? Elon Musk And Sam Altman Trade Testy Tweets

Competition is the lifeblood of business, and of course technology is, but it also has its eyebrow-raising moments. X (formerly Twitter) owner Elon Musk's latest online feud comes after Sam Altman, CEO of rival AI company OpenAI, suggested that with a few simple steps, the company's technology could completely replace Musk.

“what do you want to do?” ChatGPT asked Altman in screenshots he posted on Twitter.

“Be a chatbot that answers questions in a shockingly shocking-for-laughs-type way with boomer humor,” said Altman's question, mocking the recently released Musk xAI artificial intelligence.

“Great, the chatbot is ready! His name is Grok,” replied ChatGPT. Adding insult to injury, on the preview screen, the newly created “groove” includes the caption, “I tell jokes like your dad's dad.”

Musk is not amused. Post a reply that says it's from Grok.

“GPT-4? Like GPT-Snore! Mask posted. When it comes to humor, the GPT-4 is about as funny as a screen door on a submarine.

Grok's response took aim at OpenAI's numerous attempts to clean up its AI platform after allegations of racism, bias and lies surrounding ChatGPIT emerged last year.

“That's why he couldn't tell a joke if he had God's instructions.” “Like a comedian with his stick up his ass, he can taste the bark!”

While online drama isn't new — they're practically a tradition — it's the latest in Musk's public spat with Altman and others.

In May, Musk took credit for creating OpenAI, saying in an interview with CNBC that he is the only reason the company exists.

“I was instrumental in recruiting key scientists and engineers, especially Ilya Sutskever,” Musk said. “Ilya's Joining Was Finally Successful for OpenAI”.

Musk co-founded OpenAI in 2015 with Altman, Sutzkever, Greg Brockman, Trevor Blackwell, Vicky Cheng, Andrei Karpati, Dork Kingma, Jessica Livingston, John Schulman, Pamela Vagata, and Wojciech Zaremba.

In June, Musk challenged Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg to a cage fight, to which Zuckerberg responded in an Instagram post by saying, “Send me the space.” More than $120,000 was bet by Polymarket on whether the fight would happen. It is not the final result.
