Captain Tsubasa NFT football game launched on Oasis blockchain


Japanese manga and anime series Captain Tsubasa has launched its Invincible Token (NFT) soccer game focused on web3 gaming on the Oasis blockchain.

On May 20, Oasis announced that it is releasing the NFT soccer game Captain Tsubasa, the popular 80s manga and anime series written and illustrated by Japanese author Yoichi Takahashi, on the Web3 Game blockchain.

Created by Web3 development platforms Mint Town and Blocksmith, the Web3 game was first announced in 2022 and officially launched on January 12, 2023. The project released its administrative token on June 4, 2023.

The game allows players to collect NFTs from characters from the original animated series. It allows players to develop characters, create a team and play through different modes in the game.

Rival mode allows players to revisit the original storyline, while Player-versus-Player (PvP) mode allows players to play against other online players. The game also features an arena mode where players can play 11 on 11 football matches.

According to Mint Town CEO Hiroshi Kunimitsu, joining the OCC blockchain will give fans a “new way” to experience the animated story. Kunimitsu added that the release demonstrates the potential of blockchain technology in “enhancing interactive entertainment and gaming.”

The manga series was first published in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1981 and was adapted into an anime series in 1983.

Several films and television adaptations followed, the latest of which aired in 2018. In the year By 2023, the series had sold 90 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling manga series of all time.

To commemorate the game's launch on OCC, Genesis NFTs include additional features such as increased player power points.
