Charity platform JustGiving adds support for Bitcoin, Dogecoin donations

Dogecoin will end again after Musk dropped the token during a Pennsylvania town hall

Fundraising platform JustGiving has rolled out support for cryptocurrency donations, greatly increasing the number of ways users can send money to charities and fundraising campaigns.

Users of the UK-based crowdfunding site Crepment can make contributions in more than 60 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tether and Dogecoin, the company said in a statement. The platform is offering the new donation option amid a resurgence of retail interest in cryptocurrencies.

Digital asset payment company GivingBlock is providing infrastructure for JustGiving to accept crypto donations.

“Our goal is to make accepting cryptocurrency donations as easy as accepting any online donation,” GivingBlock co-founder Alex Wilson said in a statement Monday. “Charities must recognize this new donor demographic.”

JustGiving has been used to raise nearly $9 billion in donations over the past 24 years, and it could be poised to make even more money with its latest giveaway. Crypto-enhanced donations have pumped billions into the coffers of charities in recent years.

According to Giving Block's 2024 annual report, more than $2 billion worth of crypto has been given away in the past five years. Meanwhile, the average crypto donation is about 40 times the size of a fiat-certified charitable donation, JustGiving said in a statement.
