The self-proclaimed creator of Bitcoin, is in the spotlight again. Craig Wright has faced major legal setbacks and controversies against Bitcoin counterfeiter Satoshi Nakamoto.

On July 16, the UK High Court ruled against Wright, emphatically sharing that Satoshi Nakamoto was not! This statement comes after a thorough examination of the evidence provided by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA), an organization established to promote innovation in the open crypto space.

Lies and lies are exposed

It all started in 2010. It's been since 2016, when Wright began claiming to be Satoshi Nakamoto and thereby aggressively asserting his rights to Bitcoin's intellectual property.

However, the court found that Wright had submitted false affidavits and falsified documents to support his claims. The turning point, however, was when Judge James Mellor concluded that a highly technical system like bitcoin would not make the careless mistakes found in Wright's evidence.

The judgment did not stop there! In addition to ruling on Wright's claim, Judge Mellor referred Wright to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for perjury and perjury. The judge highlighted that Wright had lied extensively and fabricated documents “on a large scale”. The CPS decides whether to charge Wright for wrongdoing and seek his arrest and extradition.

Wright's legal problems were exacerbated by a defamation lawsuit against podcaster Peter McCormack, resulting in a $2 million freeze in assets to cover legal fees. Furthermore, the court issued several injunctions against Wright, barring him from making any further claims that he is Satoshi Nakamoto, forcing him to remove any such statement from his website claiming to be Satoshi Nakamoto.

As an update, Wright's website now features a disclaimer stating that he is not Satoshi Nakamoto.

Authorities ordered him not to take any legal action based on his false claim. This development is a significant moment in the ongoing story of Bitcoin's true creator. This also serves as a warning against making unverified claims in the crypto world.

Closing thoughts

This investigation is about to end. As the crypto community awaits the results of the CPS investigation, this case shows how important honesty and transparency are in the industry. Incidents like this teach us for a better future, as the decision affects Wright and sets a precedent for handling similar claims in the future.
