Crypto.com and Adelaide Oval have teamed up to bring crypto payments to a major stadium in Australia for the first time, according to details in a press release released today.
The Oval is the home of Australian Rules Football Club Adelaide Crows.
Sports fans pay via Crypto.com at Adelaide Oval.
In an announcement on Thursday, Crypto.com said its partnership with Adelaide Oval also includes leading payment terminal provider DataMesh.
The partnership allows sports fans and concertgoers across the country to pay in crypto at food and beverage outlets in stadiums. Customers pay through Crypto.com Pay, the exchange's payment solution that supports multiple cryptocurrencies.
Access to these services will be available from April 4 during the AFL fundraising round.
The first 1,000 transactions during the event will receive AUD$10 cashback, with additional incentives coming in the 2024 Toyota AFL Premiership season.
Promotions will target Adelaide Crows home games, Crypto.com has announced.
“The payment technology we're introducing at the Adelaide Oval is user-friendly and highly scalable for both the merchant and the customer, and we see great promise for this kind of integration in the future,” said Carl Mohan, general manager of Crypto.com APAC, in a statement.
Datamesh CEO Mark Nagy said at the Adelaide Oval that the cryptocurrency launch is part of the company's mission to break down barriers to crypto adoption.
Bridging the gap between traditional and digital payments can empower consumers, opening up new payment options for consumers, Nagy noted.
The partnership with Adelaide Oval follows Crypto.com partnering with Datamesh and OTR to launch Australia's first in-store crypto payment system.
This service is available at over 440 Peregrine retail outlets in Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.
