Decentralized AI is the key to self-sovereignty – Onike executives
Artificial intelligence researchers from the Definity Foundation, the nonprofit organization behind the Internet Computing Protocol, and executives from decentralized AI developer OneKey recently released the Decentralized AI Manifesto. The manifesto outlines seven points to ensure that AI works for the end user, including self-regulation that works for the user and not for large institutions.
Onike CEO Patrick Friedrich said in an interview with Cointelegraph that the centralization of AI creates the potential for abuse by powerful corporations or state actors to control and control the population in a near-perfect manner. Onike's CEO told Cointelegraph:
“Going forward, as more and more autonomous AI agents become available, we don't know what they're all capable of, and we want to make sure they're not biased toward some larger interest—governments, political parties, or giants.” Organizations and Companies”.
According to an Onekey executive, the solution to the problem of data censorship or falsification is running decentralized AI on permissionless networks of smart contracts, which are immutable, open source and highly transparent.
This transparent set of rules governs and constrains AI behavior and allows users to run their AI at custom parameters using local storage systems, decentralized cloud or hybrid models – giving users precise control over their entire AI software stack.

“I don't think we're coming from the direction of fear, but really from the direction of the potential that AI has,” said Arjan Buik, Onikai's chief technical officer.
Buijk told Cointelegraph that AI companies focus on building general-purpose AI models rather than custom-made or optimized models. Lack of profitability means that good and specialized applications of AI models are never implemented. This stifles innovation and limits the potential of AI development.
The Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (ASI) has therefore launched Cortex Decentralized AI in November 2024. Cortex is an artificial intelligence solution for industrial needs that allows businesses to tailor AI models to their needs and reduce dependency on general purpose.
Michael Casey, founder of the Decentralized AI Society, recently told Cointelegraph that the non-profit group is considering alternative funding methods for AI projects as it balances the development of venture capital-backed projects.
In the year On November 11, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei told Lex Friedman that human-level AI could be reached by 2026 or 2027.
Amoday's prediction that artificial intelligence (AGI) will become a reality by 2027 is years ahead of predictions by artificial intelligence researchers who predicted the arrival of AGI in the 2030s and beyond.
