Deutsche Telekom has announced plans for Bitcoin mining at BTC Prague
T-Mobile Deutsche Telekom has announced plans to start mining Bitcoin (BTC), expanding on its crypto-specific operations.
The telecommunications company has been mining Bitcoin since 2023 and currently operates Bitcoin Lightning nodes.
Speaking at BTC Prague, Dirk Roeder, Head of Web3 Infrastructure and Solutions at Deutsche Telekom said:
We have been running Bitcoin Node since 2023, and we are also running Bitcoin Lightning nodes. […] We would like to let you in on a little secret that we will soon be participating in the photosynthesis of digital currency.

T-Mobile is already Web3 native
The company has actively participated as a Polygon Validator on Web3 since June 2023, establishing its position to leverage its extensive infrastructure and secure new revenue streams.

As one of 100 validators, Deutsche Telekom has provided maintenance and validation services on Polygon for over a year and helped support the platform's proof-of-stake (PoS) mechanism.

Fetch.ai validator since February
In February, Fetch.ai, a decentralized artificial intelligence (AI) platform, established Enterprise AI with Deutsche Telekom.
As a validator on the Fetch.ai blockchain, the telecommunications firm will help support Fetch.ai's AI-driven autonomous agents.
These autonomous agents provide services in healthcare, automotive, supply chain management and digital identities by managing resources, processing transactions and analyzing traffic flows.
