Deutsche Telekom Joins Sub-Quid Decentralized Network

T-Mobile Deutsche Telekom has partnered with the Subsquid decentralized data platform to run dedicated worker nodes as part of the Subsquid decentralized “data lake”.

According to a press release shared with Cointelegraph, the collaboration aims to improve the security and efficiency of accessing and delivering blockchain data.

Worker nodes in the Subsquid network process data queries and retrieve the requested data from the data lake to data users.

In a Q&A with Cointelegraph, Alexander Ebeling, co-founder of Deutsche Telekom's MMS, Web3 unit, said:

Collaboration and data management

Subsquid co-founder Marcel Fohrmann told Cointelegraph that the partnership will help “strengthen and secure unauthorized access to data” on Web3.

The partnership follows Deutsche Telekom's recent decision to become a validator for Ethereum's layer-2 scale platform, Polygon, as one of the network's 100 staking and verification providers.

Subsquid co-founder Dmitry Zhelezov discussed data management, explaining that each piece of data is “cryptographically verified” to ensure “all relevant information is correct.”

“at once [data] Added to the Subsquid Network, each piece of data is replicated across dozens of nodes on the network, so all data is available to users even if a node goes offline.

Security tests

Speaking about information security, Ebeling explained, “Security remains a major concern as enterprise-scale systems are prime targets for cyber threats.”

“[…] To keep the blockchain infrastructure up-to-date, we conduct rigorous security audits that comply with the highest internal telecom standards and have an on-call duty team available 24/7.

Speaking to Subsquid, Zelezov outlined several challenges, including ensuring efficient data sharing and implementing enterprise-level security measures in a decentralized environment.

Deutsche Telekom Bitcoin mining plans

Dirk Roeder, Head of Web3 Infrastructure and Solutions at Deutsche Telekom, recently stated at the BTC Prague event that the company has been running a Bitcoin (BTC) node since 2023.

“I would like to introduce you to a little secret. We will soon be engaged in the photosynthesis of digital currency.”

Former Cointelegraph contributor Joseph Hall asked Roeder about the “photosynthesis of digital money” and whether he would elaborate further if the company were to issue bitcoins, Roeder said, “We will.”
