Sotheby's will sell digital art worth $35 million by 2023
Auction house Sotheby's vice president and head of digital art, Michael Buhana, described 2023 as one of the most exciting years for digital art. The auction house did “nearly $35 million” in digital art sales this year, the executive said.
Bouhanna said the company made the highest payment ever for a digital artwork, selling an NFT called “Ringers #879” created by artist Dmitry Chernyk for $6.2 million.

Taproot Wizards launches a script so that enemies can now reject turns on Bitcoin
On December 26, a contributor to Taproot Wizards, an art collection inspired by Bitcoin Ordinals, created a way for Bitcoiners to reject ordinals. A fake developer going by “Rijndael” shared a script on X (Twitter) to make nodes reject any blocks that contain script.
The post attracted hate, with some calling the developer a “superiority complex.” The developer responded by telling the hater to run the script or they were a “virtue symbol” and had no intention of stopping scripts.
