There were some clear winners from Donald Trump's surprise Solana meme coin launch late Friday: Trump himself, and early investors in the top coin. Solana herself also reached a new all-time high over the weekend.
But other major meme coins are broadly down, and none more so than Dogecoin, the original and still the most valuable meme coin by market cap.
DOGE has fallen more than 15 percent since TRUMP's launch on Friday, from a price of $0.4318 — the highest price seen for Dogecoin in more than a month — to its current price of $0.3652.
It fell nearly 7% on the day, but is up 12% on the week thanks to early gains over the past seven days.
Other popular meme coins fell heavily on the day, with Fartcoin (FARTCOIN) down 19% after hitting a high on Sunday, DogwhipHat (YF) down 11%, FLOKI down 9%. , and Pepe (PEPE) fell 7%.
Broadly, the crypto market is down 3% in the last 24 hours, according to data from CoinGecko. After climbing to a new all-time high of $108,786 last Monday, Bitcoin is trading at $104,510 for the day, while Ripple-linked XRP is trading at $3.28 mid-day – up more than 3 percent. % today.
