Donald Trump Will Attend A Bitcoin Conference This Month

Former United States President and current Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is set to speak at one of the biggest crypto events this month.

The official Bitcoin Conference X Twitter account announced Thursday that Trump will be one of the speakers at the July 25-27 event in Nashville, Tennessee. The announcement represents a major win for the crypto community, as Trump has been heavily supportive of the industry over the past few months.

Trump to speak at the Bitcoin conference

Trump is more likely to win the upcoming US presidential election after changing his stance on Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general. The Republican presidential candidate earlier this year emphasized that he can live with Bitcoin and the importance of regulation around the digital asset.

If elected, Trump has vowed to prevent the creation of digital currency by the central bank of the United States because he views such assets as a threat to liberty. In addition, Trump has promised to protect Bitcoin from crypto critics like Senator Elizabeth Warren and uncontrolled attacks.

Trump's skeptical shift to digital assets also reflects his acceptance of crypto donations. In May, Trump's campaign team opened the doors to donations in any cryptocurrency, asking supporters to send money through the trading product of the largest American crypto exchange, Coinbase.

Trump advocates for Bitcoin mining

So far, major figures have pitched their tents behind Trump, promising a better future for cryptocurrencies in the United States. Like the Winklevoss twins, Jesse Powell, co-founder of cryptocurrency exchange Gemini and founder and chairman of cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, each donated $1 million in bitcoin and ether to support Trump's campaign.

Since the Biden administration has maintained its hostility and opposition to crypto, if Trump wins in November, the public believes that the industry can get clear regulations and a favorable environment.

Recently, Trump told a meeting of industry players that he intends to create an environment for mining the rest of the bitcoins in the United States because he believes such a move would strengthen the country's power hegemony.

Meanwhile, Trump is not the only US presidential candidate to speak at the upcoming Bitcoin conference; Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will also take the stage.
