'Dookey Dash: Unclogged' Tips Guide: How To Master The Bored Monkey Game

Dookey Dash is back, Bored Ape Yacht Club's endless runner from Yuga Labs is now free-to-play on iOS, Android, PC and Mac with Dookey Dash: Unclogged. It still features some of the most popular slots, and is offering more than $1 million in prizes to top-scoring players in the season-ending tournament.

As a monkey riding some kind of submarine in the water, avoiding all kinds of debris, not all the strategy of the game; A lot of it comes down to your reaction time and attention level. But there are still a few tips and tricks you can use to increase your score.

We hope these helpful tips give you the extra boost you need to make it to the top of the leaderboards. And even though it's not a lottery this season, they should help you improve your scores in this incredibly fun game.

Use two hands and the boost button

A very simple tip for getting started: I've found that the best control system is to use the zoom button at the bottom left of the screen instead of double-tapping the screen.

When you double-tap to add in a wooden block, you have to take your finger off the screen momentarily, and that means you'll lose directional control. It's only a fraction of a second, but I've had a couple of race endings because of this momentary lack of control – and you can easily avoid it.

Using two hands with your left thumb and the button in the bottom left corner, while controlling your direction with your right thumb, eliminates that momentary lack of control. It's a small change, but for me, it feels so much better.

Fans move at different speeds

It took me an embarrassing amount of time to realize this, but the giant accelerating fans can move at different speeds, and there are two types. One with three sides and one with four sides.

There's no doubt that the obstacles killed my fans the most, but knowing that they moved at different speeds made them easier to predict, especially when there were two of them.

They also seem to have slightly larger boxes than the models, so tape the edges and don't try to squeeze them into the middle, as it might catch you.

Use your energy wisely

Unless you've sat through an hour-long session — or you're really, really, really bad — you might not have noticed that there's a power system in Dookey Dash. By default, you will consume energy once every time you start running.

Fortunately, you start with 12 bits of power, and if you're good at the game, doing 12 runs takes a long time, so unless you plan on playing for hours, chances are you won't beat it. With fast charging times, power shortages are actually quite rare.

That's where the multiplier comes in. By spending more energy, you can increase the trophy payout for each run. So if you find you only have time for one or two runs before you put the game away for a while, you might want to ditch that multiplier and spend all your energy on getting more rewards.

Ignore power generators (unless safe).

The exception to this rule is at the beginning of the run, where power ups are always spawned and safe to hold. However, as each run continues, large, glowing power-ups will lure you into dangerous areas, so it's best to just ignore them.

They often seem to breed right in front of moving objects or in dangerous places, and the benefits they provide are hardly worth the risk. So unless you're 100% sure it won't lead to a crash, you're usually better off waiting.

The sides of the sewer won't kill you.

This may seem counterintuitive, but breaking into the side of the sewer won't stop you running – you'll just float next to it until you move. This technically means you have more space to play with, so make sure you go all the way to the edges if it gives you a safe path. This is especially useful to remove large fans, large gaps appear on the edge of the tunnel.
