Drake Lost $500,000 On A Bitcoin Bet On The Nba Finals

Popular rapper Drake frequently shows off his lavish lifestyle on Instagram, and that includes his massive Bitcoin bets on sports events through Stake, an affiliate betting platform. But the bet on the outcome of the NBA Finals just went sour – and it can stand to lose a lot on Tuesday, too.

As shared in Screenshot on Instagram On June 6, Drake posted a price of $500,000 Bitcoin A Texas team win would pay $1.375 million against the Dallas Mavericks. “Dallas I'm a Texan,” Drake wrote alongside the image.

Instead, the Boston Celtics won Game 5 at home 106-88, handing Drake a tough loss in the hoops championship. But tomorrow, if his NHL bet goes south, it could be just as brutal on Drake's Bitcoin wallet.

In the same Instagram post, Drake shared that he similarly placed $500,000 on the outcome of the NHL Stanley Cup Finals, a similar bet on the Edmonton Oilers winning. If his bet ultimately wins, he'll receive $1.025 million—and there's still a chance. “Oilers are self-explanatory,” the Canadian rapper wrote.

But that will be a tough ask considering the Oilers are down 3-1 in Tuesday's Game 5 against the Florida Panthers on home ice. Both series started 3-0 against Drake's favored teams, and on both occasions the downed team bounced back to take Game 4.

We'll see if the Oilers can push to a Game 6 where the Mavericks can't.

Drake is one of the most famous musicians in the world, but he doesn't seem to be short on cash – plus he's an official partner of Stake. So he's probably fine. But losing $500,000 worth of Bitcoin or $1 million in value is not going to feel good to anyone.
