Elon Musk Continues To Push X'S 'Everything App' As He Tries To Stream Video Games

After Elon Musk tried streaming video games on its platform, X, formerly Twitter, took another step toward becoming an “everything app.”

In a 50-minute long stream on October 6, Musk broadcast himself playing the popular online action role-playing game Diablo 4.

As things kicked off, Musk explained, “What we're thinking here is that the audio sounds normal, the image looks pretty good so it's not flashy, and the feedback is working.”

While the feature is still in its early stages of development, the quality of the stream has been consistent throughout, with the Mask devs seemingly overwhelmed by the work they've put in so far.

“It's great that it's working at all,” he said.

Near the end of the stream, Musk answered some questions from the audience and provided more context on what X is looking for.

We will add streaming for Xbox and PS5. You know we're not trying to do everything better than all applications, but it's saying, ‘OK, if you want to do something in the X system or the X platform, you can do it.' :

I think there are still very specific apps that can be better than us in a lot of ways, but you know, I think we're going to be the best overall app. I guess for discovery there is some value in being a general application and communicating with the largest number of people in the world.

Musk, however, did not reveal anything about payments or whether crypto would be integrated into Stream like features like subscriptions or donations etc.

He seems to be very interested in the movement.

As of this writing, the stream, or “broadcast,” had garnered 2.8 million views within hours of the session ending, while the tweet highlighting the stream had an impressive 9.3 million views and more than 5,300 retweets.

Following the name change from Twitter to X in July, Musk explained that it was essentially part of his plan to develop an “everything app” that would handle a wide range of social media features and support financial services, including crypto.

This focus has seen Twitter introduce a revenue share model for X Premium subscribers and offer users the ability to post videos and content directly on the platform, among many other features.
