Ethereum has topped $2,000 for the first time since July.

Ethereum (ETH) surpassed $2,000 for the first time in four months.

According to CoinGecko data, the second largest digital asset was trading at a market value of $2,030 at the time of writing – an 8% jump in the last 24 hours.

ETH has not reached this high since July 13. Assets increased in Bitcoin (BTC), the largest coin in the space, today reached an 18-month high.

While ETH hasn't seen the same gains as BTC this year, it's still up significantly — up 60% since January.

But like most coins and tokens, Ethereum still has a long way to go before it surpasses its November 2021 all-time high of $4,878.

Big investors, however, are looking for ETH. Fund manager CoinShares said in a report on Monday that ETH-linked crypto products have recently seen their highest return – $17.50 per week – since August last year.

Ethereum and other major coins and tokens saw higher prices today as BTC jumped in value. The rally may be related to the possibility that traditional investors will soon be able to access the digital asset market through Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

Such a fund gives investors exposure to crypto through stocks that track its value. Major investment firms have been applying for Bitcoin ETFs to the US Securities and Exchange Commission for years, only to be rejected.

But Bloomberg Intelligence analysts said Wednesday that the SEC now has an eight-day window starting today to approve all 12 Bitcoin ETFs by major Wall Street firms — including BlackRock. This led to a rally in crypto prices.

Apart from Bitcoin and Ethereum, other major altcoins have risen significantly. Meme coin Pepe (PEPE), which launched earlier this year, has risen 23% in value over the past day. It is currently trading at $0.00000141.

Among the top 20 coins and tokens, Solana (SOL) – one of the top earners in the last month – continues to rally: it is up more than 9% in the last day and is trading at $46.58.
