Ethereum Layer 2 Zkevm Scrolling Is On The Mainnet.

Scrolling is an open source Ethereum L2 that uses zero-knowledge proofs. The network offers developers increased speed and lower fees.

Scroll, Ethereum's Layer 2 zkEVM-powered mainnet, has just announced its official launch. The announcement comes after zkEVM quietly launched on the mainnet a few days ago.

The L2 solution was founded in 2021 by Ethereum enthusiasts and developers and is focused on developing zero-knowledge proofs on the leading proof-of-stake blockchain.

The launch of the Scroll mainnet comes after more than 15 months of extensive testing and security auditing. The development scroll is now publicly available.

“Our testnets allowed us to ensure the attention to detail and care necessary to ensure the success of the mainnet release,” the team said in an announcement published on Tuesday.

Since its initial release, Scroll's testnets have deployed more than 450,000 smart contracts and seen more than 90 million total transactions with an average of 305,000 transactions per day. Details shared by the blog release show that more than 9 million blocks and 280,000 zk confirmations have been achieved.

Users of the zkEVM-enabled scaling solution will benefit from EVM compatibility and the security of the Ethereum blockchain. But more than that, Scroll promises lower network charges and latency. In this case, developers can use the platform's technology to cost-effectively build decentralized applications.

“We see a future where the majority of value transfers will take place over L2s on Ethereum. Driving that adoption will be an improved user and developer experience,” said Sandy Peng, co-founder of Scroll.

“We're focused on enabling developers to build blockchain applications that host Web3 in real-world use, attract new users en masse, and move everyone forward.”
