Experts reveal the main strategies of crypto community building
In the digital age, the cornerstone of every successful crypto project is a strong community. Gregor Rivas and Roxana Gallardo, experienced Web3 community managers and builders, share some valuable insights into the art of crypto community building.
Their conversation with BeinCrypto sheds light on the early stages, the dynamics of growth, and the skills necessary for community management in the crypto industry.
Start with why you need to build a strong foundation
Rivas emphasized the importance of transparency as a first step, saying, “The first step in building a Web3 community is transparency. You need to identify why your project needs a community and for what purpose. This basic understanding helps define objectives and select the right platforms.
As Rivas notes, the choice between social media platforms depends on the goals of the project and the size of the intended community.
“The main social network X (formerly known as Twitter) to create a Web3 technology-loving audience. Large Web3 projects are based on this social network. Then, depending on the goals, you can choose to have an MVC (minimum viable community) and host a small audience. Telegram is the best for its simplicity and interface. It's a choice. But if you plan to host a large audience, Discord is better because you can create different channels to distribute information, use bots with different purposes, and perform different online activities,” Rivas added.

He also explained the importance of organic growth and said, “The best way to sustainably grow the community without compromising its quality and integrity is to implement an organic growth strategy.”
A cornerstone of community development is aligning voices within the crypto community. Above all, fairly modify the project to suit the needs of the community. Therefore, participation does not end with development.
According to Rivas, it extends to turning community members into brand ambassadors. Rivas shared his strategy with the soccer fan community.
“I carried out a competency-based user selection process, and I implemented an application system to learn more about the audience that was interested in being an ambassador… The most important thing in crypto community building is the community members, as they are the main assets of the project,” emphasized Rivas.
