What better way to introduce new users to Web3 through gaming than to combine the world's most popular sports with the most social aspects of Web2? Association football, or soccer, holds the largest fan base among sports fans, with an estimated 3.5 billion people rooting for their favorite teams. The virtual sports industry, built primarily for soccer fans, has also grown into a $25 billion global market, with the vast network of virtual sports leagues where users can create their own teams.

Blending virtual football with blockchain features such as nonfungible token (NFT) cards can create a convenient entry point to Web3 for the masses. However, existing platforms offer complex mechanics for newcomers, and most lack cross-platform user interaction – a huge disadvantage considering the social aspect of fantasy football.

Football superstars like collecting cards

Fantone built a Telegram-integrated virtual football game to take advantage of the instant messenger service's 800 million-strong user base. It features collectible cards of top soccer players who earn points based on their real-life performance. These cards are issued as NFTs on the blockchain and can be easily traded between players.

The game uses Telegram's latest integration with the Open Network (TON) blockchain, allowing non-user wallets to be used directly from the Telegram app. Users can create virtual soccer teams with their player cards and earn points for their players' actions in the real world.

The teams are made up of five players: goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, forward and substitute player. These players earn points based on their performance in real life football matches. Points are awarded for different actions such as goals, assists and saves by the goalkeeper. The combined score of the points is equal to the team score.

Competitions are organized based on match dates of real football leagues including English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A and French Ligue 1. Leagues, the Brazilian Championship and the European Champions League, the world's most famous championship.

Users can join these contests by paying an entry fee, of which 85% is added to the prize pool and 15% goes to Fanton. Teams that score more points than the rest will be rewarded with tons of coins and collectible cards.

Cards are divided into rarity classes based on their rarity, which gives them value and uniqueness. Non-NFT cards are classified as common, while NFT cards can have rarities such as rare, fantastic, and legendary. The game is free to play and offers community cards at no charge to anyone who wants to participate. The rare NFT cards must be purchased to participate in special NFT tournaments with high prizes.

Fanton is part of the Cointelegraph Accelerator program with its direct product showing good traction in direct user onboarding and revenue. The Cointelegraph Accelerator team is motivated by an innovative game-messenger format, easy user onboarding, and a view of crypto adoption through messengers. The platform has more than 350,000 users and exceeds $40,000 in monthly revenue. The game, which has an experienced team of 15 based in Spain and Indonesia, raised $300,000 in a pre-seed round in February.

Today, October 27, 2023, Fantone launched its product on Product Hunt, a platform where users can discover and endorse new products. Fanton encourages fans to visit Production Friday and support the production.
