FIFA will launch the NFT collection between the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup

The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the world governing body for soccer, is partnering with Saudi Arabia-based blockchain company Modex to launch its own collection of non-vulnerable tokens (NFT) ahead of the 2023 Club World Cup.

According to the December 11 announcement, the inaugural batch of 100 NFTs will launch on December 15 and feature a chance to win final tickets to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. In addition, a total of 900 other digital collectibles will be released on Polygon Network and OpenSea this month, including memorable moments and digital memorabilia versions from the ongoing race.

The FIFA Club World Cup scheduled to start on December 12 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia will bring together the world's seven biggest football teams. FIFA's six confederation champions are participating,” FIFA wrote. NFTs are available on FIFA's name-plugging platform, FIFA+ Collect. The NFT platform was launched in September 2022 and is powered by Algorand.

Modex CEO Francesco Abbate said: “Digital collections increase the ways fans can interact with their favorite players, teams and the game they love, and we are honored to support FIFA in making this goal a reality.

Since its inception, the FIFA+ collector platform has facilitated 11 NFT drops, with 909,255 digital collectors and 16,448 holders. The platform has seen a total trading volume of $2.4 million in the primary and secondary NFT markets. However, FIFA+ Collect Info states that “Mint volume may be misleading as FIFA+ Collect Info cannot distinguish between free challenge packs and packs purchased from USDC.”
