FTX Hacker moves 10 million dollars in Ethereum after one year

Ftx Hacker Moves $10 Million Worth Of Ethereum As Sbf’S Trial Looms

Almost a year after the hack of the bankrupt FTX exchange, on-chain data shows that the attacker transferred $10 million in Ethereum from wallets linked to the breach.

According to on-chain data, the hacker made three transactions of 6,250 ETH worth more than $10 million to a separate wallet earlier today. It is the address's first transaction since last year's hacking incident.

Transactions

According to popular blockchain analytics firm Arkham Intelligence, the attacker tried to disrupt the transaction using privacy tools like RailGun and Thorchain.

While the amount of money stolen during the hack remains disputed, the wallet contained more than $300 million worth of cryptocurrencies.

According to the Arkham Intelligence dashboard, the hacker's wallet contains 180,000 units of ETH and 3.9 million USDT among other digital assets.

When the hack first occurred, losses were estimated at up to $400 million. However, FTX said the breach only resulted in $323 million in losses.

Meanwhile, the identity of the attacker is still unknown. Members of the crypto community speculated that disgraced FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) was behind the attack. However, he has vehemently denied these allegations.

The SBF criminal trial will begin in October

The SBF's criminal trial will begin in October, several months after he was first arrested in the Bahamas and later extradited to the United States. The trial is expected to last six weeks.

The trial will begin with jury selection on October 3, followed by a preliminary hearing on October 4. Bankman-Fried faces seven fraud-related charges, two of which are substantive and the other five are conspiracy. The embattled FTX founder has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Bankman-Fried remains incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center despite several attempts to obtain temporary release. Judge Lewis Kaplan recently denied his application to vacate on the grounds of flight risk.
