Nakappes is set to team up with Wu-Tang Clan's Ghostface Killah, Rare Scrilla, and Ordinals Bot to release 10,000 music-laden Bitcoin Rules on April 11 (an hour after this story was published).
The North American team of Nacapapes, Teddy Bitcoins, Jimmy Toussaint, and Mumbling Beard Freak, the lead creators and executives behind the popular rapper, are the latest tracks on the Bitcoin network.
“We always try to pay homage to the history and culture of Bitcoin in our collections. What better way to combine the two than to collaborate with one of the most prominent cultural figures of recent decades?” says NakaPepes.
Nakappes explains how these free-to-mint collectibles are open editions, due to the drop's limited supply, with one piece of art and music attached.
“Both Scrilla and Ghostface are the first NFTs on Bitcoin to launch in the NFT space,” the team added.
Interestingly, these NFTs open up new avenues for holders of creative common (CCO) rights. This means you can build, use and share Ghostface Killah's music however you like as long as it is used in the blockchain space.
Nakappes emphasizes his latest work, Ordistorians, which “brings together diverse Bitcoin artists from around the world in a formal art project.”
Currently featured artists at the Bitcoin-based art hub are Scare.CT, Tizzar BERANDALAN, Remster and Isaac Oluwatimilein, with more talent in the pipeline.
As a bonus, all Nakapepe and Ordistorian holders, among others, will receive whitelist access to the upcoming Ghostface Killah airdrop, which will begin in a few days.
The tools are brutal – the message: women and tools are not
Sara Baumamm (Sparky), the creative mind behind Women and Weapons (WaW), is an artist advocating for real-world utility and change through NFTs.
Although some viewers may initially perceive WaW's artwork as expressing violence, with images of armed women slightly forward and neck-close to comfort, the hidden agenda of these digital assets is actually quite the opposite. Or at least different.
“Combining weaponry imagery with traditional femininity, the WaW collection explores the inherent strength and symbolic power of women, exploring the deeper, often unseen powers they wield in their everyday lives,” Sparky explains.
Since the launch of WaW 2021, the project has seen significant success. Early sales have provided $170,000 to the Mala Fund to support women's education, and the second round of sales is currently at OpenSea at an impressive $18.8 million and counting.
As an avid NFT collector herself, Sparky has a collection of NFTs in her wallet that fit WaW's ethos, such as WoW of Women (WoW) and VeeFriends.
WaW also highlights the work of each artist through the WaW Patron Wallet and the X (Twitter) account to encourage active creators and patrons – a community that “does good in the world and does good for others.”
“We have been fortunate to witness the most amazing connections and friendships across generations, distances and cultures in our community,” she concluded.
NFTs grow 117,000+ trees and counting
Since 2013, Sandbox has been working with WeForest. Through the partnership, Sandbox users can purchase NFTs, with 100% of sales going to a real-world tree.
According to WeeForest, more than 117,870 trees have been planted in Madagascar, Ethiopia and Brazil.
Timed perfectly for International Mother Earth Day on April 22nd, their latest initiative, “Path of Glory” is set to grow more forested areas.
In this metalization event, each Ethereum-based “NFT seed” planted fuels the growth of the physical tree in the great outdoors.
“As a platform, we want to add meaning by supporting causes that have a positive impact on the physical world and touch on our sustainability,” said Sébastien Bourget, chief operating officer of Sandbox.
According to recent data, 15 billion trees are cut down every year. So, every little bit helps.
