Google eases Crypto Trust Ads policy before getting Bitcoin ETF license
Starting January 29, 2024, Google will allow US-based crypto trusts to advertise on its platform. Advertisers who want to promote crypto trusts, however, must pass Google's certification. Google's policy update is in line with broader industry trends and Bitcoin's 74% rise over the past 90 days.
In a strategic move, Google has updated its crypto-related advertising policy to allow ads for US-based crypto trusts, coinciding with predictions of the approval of spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the United States.
Effective January 29, 2024, this update comes amid much anticipation in the crypto space, with industry analysts estimating a 90% chance of a US spot Bitcoin ETF on January 10, 2024.
Google allows ads for US crypto trusts
The update clearly mentions “advertisers offering Cryptocurrency Coin Trust targeting the United States.” Advertisers interested in promoting crypto trusts must go through Google's certification process, which ensures that they have the necessary permits from the relevant local authorities. The policy emphasizes global implementation, requiring compliance with local laws in the target regions.
This policy adjustment by Google coincides with the approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs in the United States. Bloomberg ETF analysts have a 90% chance of approval as of January 10, 2024.
Notably, there are currently 13 Bitcoin ETF indicators, including major players such as BlackRock, Grayscale, and Fidelity. These companies are said to be involved with the US Securities and Exchange Commission to discuss critical technical details related to the ETF proposals. The crypto market has responded positively, with Bitcoin showing a whopping 74% increase over the past 90 days.
The crypto market is expected to add $1 trillion if the SEC approves Bitcoin ETF applications.
Certification requirements for Crypto Trust ads on Google
For crypto trust promoters, Google's certification process highlights the importance of complying with local laws.
Advertisers must obtain the necessary permits from local authorities, and their products, landing pages, and advertisements must comply with the legal requirements of each country or region. This careful certification process aims to ensure responsible advertising practices in the rapidly evolving and changing landscape of scripting.
