Hacker mocks Algorand after controlling CEO X’s account for 15 hours
An unknown party is still posting on the X account nearly a day after Algorand Foundation CEO Stacy Warden mocks followers and the platform.
As of 6:28 PM UTC on January 26, the unnamed hacker continues to be active on social media platform X, roughly 15 hours after Algorand posted that the Warden account was “in progress” recovery. The individual used their time on the forum to post messages containing racial slurs and insults to Warden while posting and replying to X users.
Many of the hacker's activities using the hacked account attacked Warden personally – changing her profile to say she “extracted 6 figures from my clients and thought it was hacking” and worked as a “semi-professional pole dancer”. However, many X users seem to be amused by the disruption, saying they prefer the hacker's posts to Ward's:

It's unclear whether X's help center is responding to the hack. In a statement posted on Jan. 26 at 8:10 p.m. UTC, Algorithm Chief Technology Officer John Woods said that while the company is still working to control the Warden account, “no Algorithm systems or accounts were compromised.”

Individuals were previously able to temporarily take over high-profile X accounts such as the United States Securities and Exchange Commission on January 9. In that case, the hacker was able to release a false message saying the SEC had approved it. Point Bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded currencies. In a January 22 report, the SEC said the hack came from a SIM swap attack.
