Hashkey Group Launches Ethereum Layer-2 ‘Hashkey Chain Mainnet’
HashKey Chain, a public blockchain developed by Hong Kong-based HashKey Group, officially launched the Ethereum Layer-2 mainnet on December 18th.
The launch of the mainnet follows a successful month-long testnet period where more than 860,000 wallet addresses were registered, 24.72 million transactions were recorded and more than 300,000 community members participated.
According to a blog post from Hashkey Group, a total of 50 projects have been deployed in the testnet phase. In lab testing, HashkeyChain Minnet has seen 400 transactions per second (TPS) and gas fees as low as 0.1GiW.

Hashkey Chain CEO Kay Lu said in a statement, “We have expanded network capacity using the latest OP-Stack and Rollup technology.
“This creates a secure, efficient and scalable environment for building transformative decentralized applications on a compliant and innovative public chain.”
In the year As of December 18th and the time of this article's publication, Hashkey Chain has a 24-hour transaction volume of 43.3 thousand transactions with a TPS of 0.5 and gas fees hovering around 0.001 gwei or 0.000000001 ETH.

The expansion comes amid the growth of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology infrastructure in the Asia Pacific region and a renewed push for crypto-friendly legislation in Hong Kong.
December 18 marks the first Legislative Council reading of a bill to regulate the stablecoin throughout Hong Kong. If passed, the measure would be one of the most comprehensive and detailed regulatory efforts to identify stablecoins and their legitimate uses.
Also on Dec. 18, Hong Kong's financial regulator, the Securities Futures Commission, approved four new virtual asset trading platforms out of 11 previously pending applications, with Accumulus GBA Technology, DFX Labs, Hong Kong Digital Asset EX and Thousand Wells Technology all acquiring applications.
