Here'S Every Upcoming Marvel Game You Shouldn'T Miss

While superhero movies have been huge at the box office for years, video games have been slow to catch up. Maybe studios don't want to try to match the likes of Batman Arkham games or Spider-Man games. Maybe you're worried about ending a live-action co-op superhero game like Marvel's Avengers that came and went a few years ago.

Whatever the reason, we haven't had many good superhero games for years, with the exception of Marvel's Spider-Man series, which made its latest entry last year. But now we have other Marvel Comics games on the horizon from different studios—most of them with amazing talent and stories.

Remember that some of these games are ways out. None have firm release dates, footage, screenshots, confirmed platforms, or confirmed titles – standard announcements. But this is enough to start dreaming again.

Check out every Marvel game with all known details.

Marvel's Wolverine

Of all the games on this list, Marvel's Wolverine has been around for the longest, officially. Until 2021. Insomniac cut its Marvel teeth on Spider-Man, followed by Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Spider-Man 2. Ratchet and Clank's studio is perfectly positioned to introduce other characters.

Insomnia He mentioned The desire to work on Wolverine is because, although it is very different from Spider-Man, both are “compelled to protect people who can't do it.” Expect the game to feature Logan as a very light and acrobatic Spidey, covered in fur and a fur ball.

In the year In 2023, the studio was hacked, causing unknown information and some early gameplay footage to be released. If you dig around for those, though, remember that they're unfinished properties that aren't meant to see the light of day — the final product could be very different.

Like Insomniac's other games, we expect this game to be a PlayStation exclusive for a few years before appearing on PC.

The Marvel Blade

Arcane Studios, known for Dishonored, Prey and Deathloop, surprised us with the announcement of Blade last fall. This will be an action-adventure title following Eric Brooks, a dhampir known as Blade in the original story. Arkan said very little about the game, but previous games from the studio have relied on exploring limited areas, gameplay that allows for player customization, and a narrative based on player choices.

Working on a licensed character like Blade might change Arcane's priorities a bit, but we'd be very surprised if they suddenly dropped everything we know. We can expect to see Marvel's Blade on Xbox Series X and S and on PC. Parent company Microsoft's cross-platform strategy has been inconsistent, so whether or not it will appear on the PlayStation 5 is currently largely unknown.

Marvel's Black Panther

From Electronic Arts studio Cliffhanger Games comes Marvel's Black Panther. If you don't know the studio's name, don't worry—it was created specifically to develop this game. While EA hasn't spoken in terms of details, we're expecting an open-world game set primarily in Wakanda.

The studio is “committed to delivering an authentic and authentic Black Panther experience for fans, giving them more agency and control over the narrative than they've ever experienced in a story-driven video game. We developed an amazing world for players who love Black Panther and want to explore the world of Wakanda just like we do.” As studio head Kevin Stephens.

The idea of controlling the story more than any other narrative game is a big promise, and hopefully EA and Cliffhanger can make good on the idea.

Marvel's Black Panther/Captain America game

This game is definitely unusual in the group, but we are excited. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves director Amy Hennig has been tasked with developing this game for Skydance Media, which is reason enough to keep an eye on this title. Roughly based on the “Captain America/Black Panther: Flag of Our Fathers” storyline, this game is set not in modern times, but during World War II before Steve Rogers went into hibernation for the long haul.

Despite Steve Capp, T'Challa wouldn't be born for another 40-plus years – so instead you'll play as Azuri, who donned the mantle of Black Panther at the time. Playable are Gabriel Jones, the Cape Howling commando, and Nunnally, the leader of the Wakandan spy network. The game will reportedly be a “narrative-driven, blockbuster action-adventure game.” First notice.

An untitled Iron Man game

Along with the Black Panther game, Electronic Arts also has an Iron Man game in development. EA said the game will be a “single-player, third-person, action-adventure” title. Leading the team is Olivier Proulx, who previously worked on 2021's Guardians of the Galaxy from Eidos Montreal—one of the true sleeper hits of that year.

The Iron Man movie-inspired games were released a decade ago to mediocre reviews, and Marvel appeared to freeze on games after that. Hopefully this Iron Man game turns out to be much better.

Marvel's Spider-Man 3

Spider-Man 2 (shown) is out in less than six months, so don't expect this game until 2029 or 2030. While Insomniac has been developing great games like Ratchet & Clank and Sunset Overdrive for years, 2018's Spider-Man made the studio a big name among gamers and showed that Batman isn't the only hero in town who can support a hit game.

Last fall we saw the release of Spider-Man 2, which improved on the original in many ways and is currently one of the biggest reasons to own a PlayStation 5. We know almost nothing about this game, but there is a fact. We have at least three great examples—in Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, and Spider-Man: Miles Morales—that remind us Insomniac knows its stuff when it comes to ol' Web-head.

Marvel's Venom: Deadly Defender

When Insomniac leaked last year, one of the games in development we learned about was the Venom spin-off from the Spider-Man series. Venom played a big role in Spider-Man 2, showing the conflict between himself and his best friend Harry, as well as Peter's stress and frustration when he stopped doing his job as Spidey.

While Harry and Peter both found redemption, Venom didn't. We're excited to see how Insomniac changes Venom from the symbiote we met in Spider-Man 2. This game is still in development, and we don't expect to see it for a while. Expect it to be a PlayStation-exclusive title.

Hackers also revealed plans for an Insomniac-developed X-Men game, but since there isn't much to go on beyond that at this point, we'll leave it at that. Suffice it to say, there will be plenty of Marvel games for years to come.
