Buenos Aires Partners With ZKSync for Blockchain-Based Digital Identity


The City of Buenos Aires has announced a new partnership with ZKSync to enable its 3.6 million citizens to use blockchain technology for their digital identities. More than 60 documents are available on this platform.

QuarkID, the new system, is built on the previous digital ID program, which ensures more privacy and security with the trustless blockchain technology.

Buenos Aires and ZKSync announced QuarkID on October 22, pledging to prioritize individual privacy. QuarkID uses blockchain technology and zero-knowledge cryptography to provide new access to government services to 3.6 million eligible citizens.

ZkSync joined this project after an all-time low review period. In July 2024, the network's active addresses dropped by 66%, and the ZK token has seen consistent declines since then. Such a new high-profile collaboration can give the company more popularity and contribute to its revival.

This Quark ID program is built on top of MBA, an existing digital identity platform in Buenos Aires. All miBA users can now access this blockchain solution, which offers many improvements.
