How can Web3 create a sustainable world?
Sustainability is one of the leading issues of the 21st century, and blockchain technology is one of the most significant innovations. Is there a way to use blockchain technology to achieve sustainability goals?
Jake Campton, Head of Communications and Community Advocate at VeChain, shared this in episode 51 of Cointelegraph's Hashing It Out podcast with Elisha Owusu Akyaw. Campton highlights how using the Web3 incentive model can lead people to a more sustainable lifestyle and the challenges of bringing the two worlds together.
Compton explains how VeChain has been able to stay relevant through multiple cycles, and its growth is focused on working on real-world use cases and securing key partnerships, its partnership with Walmart, which has resulted in over 200 million transactions. .
According to Compton, enterprises have a natural desire to move to blockchain for more efficient data management, real-time supply chain monitoring and auditing, and more sustainable practices. Despite the obvious benefits, many enterprises are concerned about integrating blockchain technology due to obstacles such as accounting and regulations.
“That's another thing that VeChain has done very well,” says Campton, “is building solutions that allow the use of blockchain in a business environment, because, for example, companies don't want to deal with crypto; they don't want to. Managing crypto assets, and especially in places where the rules are not clear, creates a bit of a mathematical nightmare.”
Campton explains how blockchain technology can contribute to a sustainable world, a belief that led to the launch of VeChain's VeBetterDAO. The new decentralized autonomous organization promotes a decentralized application ecosystem that encourages sustainable practices such as recycling and adopting low-carbon practices.
Campton argues that people need incentives to adopt sustainable practices that can easily be built with blockchain technology, borrowing from various gamification models in the Web3 space.
A large core developer team is actively working on porting over Ethereum toolkits to make VeChain applications easier for developers using to build in-place. What's more, the network has created an app that allows users with no coding language to build decentralized applications.
