While most blockchain startups are focused on infrastructure and financial applications, the upcoming Abstract Blockchain is taking a consumer-centric approach to delight and entertain active Web3 participants with “fun and viral” applications.
Ethereum Layer-2 Network by Igloo Inc. It's being developed by the parent company of Pudgy Penguin, which raised $11 million in July to “change the dynamics of how consumers interact with blockchain technology.”
Abstract As excitement builds for the January 2025 graduation, you may be wondering how to prepare to attend the first day. Below we've put together some ideas on how to be prepared.
What can you do with the abstract before you start?
Although the Abstract Mainnet isn't expected to launch until after January 2025, forward-looking participants are already gearing up to hit the ground running when it comes to startups.
Join the waiting list, request an “Early Bird” badge
The most official way to get started with abstracts is to join the email waiting list and request a spot for the last “Early Bird” badge.
No benefits have been announced for the badge, and details about claiming it are still forthcoming.
Connect with Abstract Testnet
Participation in the Abstract testnet is not an incentive – in other words, making transactions on the chain does not bring any direct benefits, such as token airdrop. But by connecting to TestNet, you can familiarize yourself with the chain and its user interface and experience.
Abstract Block Browser indicates that more than 16 million transactions have been confirmed to date.
The testnet bridge is open and available to users who want to move their funds from the Ethereum Sepolia testnet to the Abstract testnet.
Take your role in Abstract Discord
The Abstract Discord is a vital hub for keeping up to date with information about the chain and projects launching on it.
Discord may offer special benefits to active users and those who qualify for roles within it. For example, users with the “Elite Chad” role were eligible to be assigned a PENGU airdrop in December and “receive higher chances to participate in incentives after the mainnet for abstracts,” according to a message from a moderator.
Connect to abstract applications
More than 350 applications for Abstract are in the pipeline, according to Fin, the head of Abstract Marketing.
While some new applications will be built locally on the abstraction, the few projects committed to building on-chain are live and may be migrating from other blockchains.
Knowing about these projects and interacting with them before the mainnet launch can give users a head start when they finally find a home on Abstract.
Some examples include projects like Duper and Vibis, MYRIAD Prediction Markets (Myriad Markets is a product of Decrypt's parent company DASTAN), and existing Web3 projects like Imaginary Ones and Dogami.
A more complete list of Abstract ecosystem additions can be found in the Abstract ecosystem-updates Discord channel.
How are others preparing for the abstract?
One popular way for users to prepare for abstraction is to hunt through whitelists for NFT projects launching on consumer-focused blockchains.
Lists are already circulating, trying to rank the “hottest” upcoming NFT projects.
Many of these projects, such as Rui Studio and FinalBoss, are already providing or providing access to future minutes.
What are the possible benefits?
While earlier posts from the Abstract Ecosystem Twitter account mentioned a native boost system, no details were shared by the Abstract team.
However, it is widely speculated that there will be a native abstract token that will be used for special panoramic management and further incentive to build the chain economy.
However, it's important to note that getting involved with projects or communities in the ecosystem doesn't offer any rewards.
More information about abstracts can be found in our Learn About Chains guide.
