Hut 8 eyes pushing AI with GPU-as-a-service programming
Hut 8 has launched its GPU-as-a-service business to harness the potential of AI growth. The Bitcoin miner has partnered with Hewlett Packard Enterprise and AdvizeX to launch a cluster of 1,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs. Hut 8 eyes income diversification and long-term growth with this AI bet.
Hat8, a power infrastructure provider and top Bitcoin miner, has announced that its GPU-as-a-service platform is live.
The GPU cluster, according to the Hut 8 announcement on September 26, consists of multiple HPE supercomputers, all powered by 1,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs. The work was initiated by a collaboration between Hewlett Packard Enterprise and information technology firm AdvizeX.

According to the press release, Hut 8 subsidiary Highrise AI will handle the GPU-as-a-service business, with a 5-year contract for revenue sharing and infrastructure fees.
The event further showcased Hut 8's work and now includes a computing layer that includes artificial intelligence, bitcoin mining and cloud services.
“Consistent with our commitment to disciplined capital allocation, we believe a thoughtfully structured AI computing business is financially and strategically viable and will generate significant growth, revenue diversification and long-term value,” Hut 8 CEO Asher Gennot.
New next-gen mining chip
Hut 8's vertical launch of the new business comes a few days after the miner announced the U3S21EXPH, a new ASIC miner with direct liquid-to-chip (DLC) cooling.
The miner has partnered with leading crypto mining chip maker BITMAIN to develop this new ASIC mining chip. Hut 8 plans to deploy the new model in the second quarter of 2025 through an estimated 15 exahashes per second hosting deployment.
An initial deployment of 15 EH/s pushes Hat8's hashrate by 81%, while the miner expects 20 EH/s of self-mining.
