Immutable announces an in-game signature feature for Web3 games

Blockchain Protocol Immutable has introduced a new feature to streamline player experience in Web3 games by allowing in-game transactions.

In a Nov. 11 announcement, Immutable said it experienced Web3 game disruption, as players often had to approve transactions or connect to wallets outside of the game. The new feature, Pre-Approved Transactions, allows developers to integrate transaction approvals directly into the game interface.

In the year In 2023, Immutable launched its Passport Wallet infrastructure with Google and Apple login methods. The Web3 Game Project says the feature will allow users to create and recover crypto wallets using Google or Apple accounts or email addresses.

With the newly announced feature, the company says it has eliminated the need for out-of-game signing and verification. The protocol says this could pave the way for features like in-game item trading, crafting, and marketplaces.

A Web3 game “should feel just like a traditional game.”

Static Web 3 gameplay should be immersive and seamless “just like a traditional game,” he said. The pre-approved transactions feature allows players to have a seamless experience by trading items, buying from the marketplace, or creating new game assets.

Invariable added that the feature will benefit Web3 game developers. Immutable wrote:

“By reducing friction in Web3 interactions, you can focus on building engaging gameplay mechanics instead of worrying about blockchain complexity. This leads to a better player experience, reduced support tickets, and increased player satisfaction.”

Benefits for Web3 game developers

The protocol says the implementation process requires minimal technical overhead and is straightforward, giving developers control over the transaction interface, allowing them to match the look and feel of the game. At the same time, the system manages the blockchain connections behind the scenes.

While the feature improves players' experience in a dynamic ecosystem, it only works with in-game assets. The protocol ensures that this is in a controlled and secure environment. Still, it plans to expand its capabilities to support Imitable (IMX), USD Coin (USDC), and Ether (ETH).
