Layer-2 tests and enterprise adoption with LightLink CEO
In this episode of Cointelegraph's Hashing it Out podcast, host Elisha Owusu Akiau interviews Roy Hui, the founder and CEO of LightLink, for Layer-2 Blockchain. Hui discusses the current state of the blockchain industry, the challenges faced by layer-2 solutions, and LightLink's unique challenges to address.
Hui discusses the current landscape of blockchain technology, noting the saturation of layer-1 and layer-2 networks and emphasizing the vast untapped potential for real-world applications.
“I think when you think about the number of people in this world, the amount of transactions we do every day […] Whether it's driving a bus or playing a video game, there just isn't enough capacity in the blockchain right now to put it all together.
He admits that the space is getting crowded as few people use onchain apps for daily activities. Because of this saturation, different networks must find ways to differentiate themselves from their peers.
Hui emphasized LightLink's focus on enterprise adoption and its mission to accelerate global adoption of Web3 technologies.
Explains how Lightlink wireless transactions are designed to attract Web2 users and enterprises. Hui highlights the challenges enterprises face in implementing Web3, the technology's complexity, risk, and changing transaction costs. According to him, it is important to remove the cost of transactions and estimate what this cost might be in order to create a user experience similar to Web2 platforms.
The discussion will also touch on the importance of community building and developer participation in the Web3 space. Hui shared LightLink's strategies for attracting developers and users, such as hackathons and airdrops. Hui admits that by 2024, as more users come online and expectations rise, doing airdrops will become more difficult. With so much going on in the space, airdrops may not be enough to keep users on a particular network, he added.
